These staged signs serve as our signifiers <\/p>\n

of the Eternal which we use to signify<\/span><\/p>\n

–celebrate and worship–<\/span><\/p>\n

that which we perceive <\/p>\n

as the core and source <\/p>\n

of our values as well as<\/span><\/p>\n

individual and societal<\/span><\/p>\n

 conduct<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Storytelling is our seventh sense at work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yup, seven: <\/p>\n

hearing, sight, smell, sound, taste, <\/span><\/p>\n

… and …<\/span><\/p>\n

Intuition (our spiritual exchange)<\/p>\n

… and …<\/p>\n

Storytelling (our exchange in and sense of time).<\/p>\n

Narrative <\/span><\/p>

is one of our <\/span><\/p>

circulatory systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

Try stop breathing. <\/p>\n

Now try to stop telling stories.<\/p>\n

It is indeed one of our vital lifelines: <\/p>\n

It is how we live\/work\/love\/thrive,<\/span><\/p>\n

individually and collectively.<\/p>\n

It is our exchange between<\/span><\/p>\n

the corporeal and e<\/span>terna<\/span>l.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is our community breathing. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is our rhythm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Together, through narrative and ritual,<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the Potential Danger?

\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t

If our storyline brakes, what happens?<\/p>

Without narrative and ritual, we\u00a0<\/p>

wither within our homogeneity,<\/p>

and without, our exchange with those\u00a0<\/p>

outside our community, will extinguish.<\/p>

In its place, its antithesis takes root, and,\u00a0<\/p>

the weeds spread and strangle what’s left.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

For us, this is the mechanism of darkness.<\/span><\/p>

Just as forfeiture of our storytelling\/rituals<\/p>

initiates restricted breathing,\u00a0<\/p>

and eventually, strangulation,<\/span><\/p>

for a nation built upon an invitation to\u00a0<\/p>

the tired and poor, and the<\/p>

huddled masses yearning to breathe free,<\/p>

begrudging, hesitant, unwilling\u00a0<\/p>

participation yields<\/p>

a cacophony that hurts both<\/span><\/p>

our ears and hearts<\/span><\/p>

until our country suffocates.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Today’s invasive species, is not the “others,”<\/span><\/p>

but our own hate, intolerance, fear\u00a0<\/p>

of a perceived contagion\u00a0<\/p>

projected onto\u00a0the “other,”<\/span><\/p>

in place of our review of our own\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

dishonor and greed.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In this environment of social toxicity<\/span><\/p>

“Otherness,” becomes intolerable,<\/span><\/p>

we obsess on homogeneity\u00a0that\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

has its unity dysfunctionally\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

based in uniformity,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

(often in desperation due to\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

our own withering state)<\/span><\/p>

instead of the Creator’s diversity,<\/span><\/p>

where unlike elements yield a unity\u00a0<\/p>

based in the complexity, sophistication and<\/p>

variety of heterogeneity,<\/p>

that thrives, and not-so ironically, is\u00a0<\/p>

better suited to survive the test of times.<\/p>

(Consider, at a far greater external scale,\u00a0<\/p>

the Creator\u00a0is not going to\u00a0<\/span>allow the<\/span><\/p>

Extraterrestrial<\/em> Aliens (ETAs)\u00a0<\/span>to visit<\/span><\/p>

Earth\u00a0<\/span>until we embrace our\u00a0<\/span>minor distinctions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

For then, we will have to negotiate\u00a0<\/p>

some really<\/i> vast differences.)<\/p>

Hear this, herein,<\/span><\/p>

the healthy mechanism\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

(inoculation, if you will)<\/span><\/p>

is the exchange (sharing) of\u00a0<\/p>

our Rituals and our Storytelling.<\/p>

“Honor and Share,” is our mechanism\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

for individualized and collective health.<\/span><\/p>

But first we need a narrative and ritual of\u00a0<\/p>

our own and to know it well,<\/p>

intimately and rigourously,<\/p>

if you are to share it and coexist\u00a0<\/p>

with others of different persuasions.<\/p>

share with our elders.<\/p>

both imagination and questions.<\/p>

\u00a0Likewise, for everyone else who<\/span><\/p>

are supposedly at opposite ends\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

of a\u00a0<\/span>supposedly dichotomous range.<\/span><\/p>

For all, inspiration and awe await\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Yup, seven:  hearing, sight, smell, sound, taste,  … and … Intuition (our spiritual exchange) … and … Storytelling (our exchange in and sense of time).   Narrative  is one of our  circulatory systems. Try stop breathing.  Now try to stop telling stories. It is indeed one of our vital lifelines:  It is how we live\/work\/love\/thrive, individually and collectively.   It is our exchange between the corporeal and eternal. It is our community breathing.  Inhaling and exhaling. It is our rhythm. Together, through narrative and ritual, we express and share our beliefs and in so doing, we build community. What About Diverse Communities,In which the Unfamiliar, Even Drastically Different Cultural Narratives and Rituals are Present? How Do We Build Unity Within Such Fundamental Differences? It is simple to explain but difficult to do. The seeds for unity are already  containedwithin the differences. We cannot ‘think’ our way through it. It is an experiential phenomena.   Through storytelling and rituals,  we honor our beliefs and values.  Within our chosen community,  through our hard work,  me becomes we.   Our exchanges build community  based upon homogeneity.   Once we  are strengthened  by our community commitment, we are empowered to extend outward and exchange our narratives and values, to  consider, evaluate, learn and appreciate difference, symbiotic heterogeneity.   After we develop  and enrich our culture,  celebrate and honor our own,  we ARE empowered to share  our rituals and stories of  our communities with  “others.” By means of the  intermediary  dynamic of extended:   Accommodation, Respect, and Empathy,   We ARE Empowered  to Coexist and Honor Others. Hence, exchange within and you will  grow and yearn to exchange without.   It is the very nature of  initiating internal expansion that will compel you to seek  External Exchange.   Together, we become more  than a single band of rhythm, If our seven senses are tuned,  we will hear the melody of invitations  to contribute to the score of rhythms,  to the orchestra of life. What is the Potential Danger?What are the Risks? If our storyline brakes, what happens? Without narrative and ritual, we\u00a0 wither within our homogeneity, and without, our exchange with those\u00a0 outside our community, will extinguish. In its place, its antithesis takes root, and,\u00a0 the weeds spread and strangle what’s left. \u00a0 For us, this is the mechanism of darkness. Just as forfeiture of our storytelling\/rituals initiates restricted breathing,\u00a0 and eventually, strangulation, for a nation built upon an invitation to\u00a0 the tired and poor, and the huddled masses yearning to breathe free, begrudging, hesitant, unwilling\u00a0 participation yields a cacophony that hurts both our ears and hearts until our country suffocates. \u00a0 Today’s invasive species, is not the “others,” but our own hate, intolerance, fear\u00a0 of a perceived contagion\u00a0 projected onto\u00a0the “other,” in place of our review of our own\u00a0 dishonor and greed. \u00a0 In this environment of social toxicity “Otherness,” becomes intolerable, we obsess on homogeneity\u00a0that\u00a0 has its unity dysfunctionally\u00a0 based in uniformity,\u00a0 (often in desperation due to\u00a0 our own withering state) instead of the Creator’s diversity, where unlike elements yield a unity\u00a0 based in the complexity, sophistication and variety of heterogeneity, that thrives, and not-so ironically, is\u00a0 better suited to survive the test of times. (Consider, at a far greater external scale,\u00a0 the Creator\u00a0is not going to\u00a0allow the Extraterrestrial Aliens (ETAs)\u00a0to visit Earth\u00a0until we embrace our\u00a0minor distinctions.\u00a0 For then, we will have to negotiate\u00a0 some really vast differences.) \u00a0 Hear this, herein, the healthy mechanism\u00a0 (inoculation, if you will) is the exchange (sharing) of\u00a0 our Rituals and our Storytelling. “Honor and Share,” is our mechanism\u00a0 for individualized and collective health. But first we need a narrative and ritual of\u00a0 our own and to know it well, intimately and rigourously, if you are to share it and coexist\u00a0 with others of different persuasions. (Then, heavens forbid, we just may begin\u00a0 to appreciate the similarities, maybe?) So, where does it come from? \u00a0 That, too, we believe,\u00a0 is easily explained\u00a0but difficult to secure: \u00a0 Our elders inherently have much to\u00a0 share with our young,\u00a0 both insight and questions,\u00a0 and, our young inherently have much to\u00a0 share with our elders. both imagination and questions. \u00a0 \u00a0Likewise, for everyone else who are supposedly at opposite ends\u00a0 of a\u00a0supposedly dichotomous range. For all, inspiration and awe await\u00a0 once we\u00a0spiritually migrate.\u00a0 Then Why Is It Not Happening? \u00a0 Because we are stuck at the first step. Because we lost the act of helping,\u00a0 and the art of sharing vernacular,\u00a0 verbal,\u00a0 visual,\u00a0 spiritual\u00a0 stories. \u00a0 The bilateral,\u00a0 multidirectional,\u00a0 multigenerational bridge of time is obstructed,\u00a0 maybe worse, maybe collapsed.
